A New Studio for a New Year

I am so excited about 2012.  It is a year of growth and expansion, starting with a move to a brand new studio which will double as an office and will be home to my first employee.

Why a new studio and an employee?  There are a few reasons:

1.  Things are really busy (in a good way!) and I have finally reached the point that I need some help to keep up with everything

2.  I have some amazing things planned for 2012 and an employee will free up my time to work on them (…more to come here, but I think you’ll be pleased.  It involves even more resources being added to the website, a new jewelry line and some great website changes to make the site easier to use!)

3.  I wanted a space to teach more jewelry workshops and do private instruction, so now I’ll have it.  I’ll be posting a jewelry workshop schedule soon and I hope you will join me!

So, where is this new studio?  It’s in Willington, CT at 156 River Road.

I am happy to be located in a gorgeous old mill building alongside many other talented artists and small local businesses, including a very talented photographer friend of mine, Dot Drobney.

The space is full of character and charm and will look amazing by the time we are done with it.  Here are a few of the “before” pictures.

It will be part AmberTortoise Jewelry studio & office and part Jeremy Pollack Photography studio as my husband and I are sharing the space (which is going to be very convenient for photographing my jewelry :-D).  For those who don’t know, my husband is an amazing photographer and author and the reason that my jewelry pictures come out half as good as they do…

Things will be a little quiet at AmberTortoise.com for the next couple weeks while we paint, build, install, move and completely transform the 1,055 sft space into a jeweler’s and photographer’s dream studio… but then it will be back to normal with plenty of new products being added, including some amazing mystic topaz and one of my favorite new creations, which is a necklace with 975 carats of lucious deep blue sapphire.

Have a great week!

P.S.  If you missed the livecast during our virtual launch event where I showed everyone my former home studio, here are some pictures.

P.S.S.  See if you can spot Obi-Wan Kenobi, aka Sir Barks-A-Lot, in one of the pictures (hint, that’s my Lhasa Apso).
